Manufacturer Previews
8 months ago – Mon, Jul 28, 2025 at 08:55:29 AM

Super quick update, I got an update from the manufacturer with some of the sample pins;

The skull mini, the purple iris and the rainbow bee are in this order too, so hopefully we'll see those soon :D.

☆ Preview ☆ Mini Pins

... Lots of mini pins!

So sorry guys. Life is kicking my butt at the moment.

Work is continuing though! Nearly everything is done, just the last two designs that need finishing up. But I realised it had been a hot minute so here's progress.

Update One - we got the glass preview back for the physalis mini;

Its perfect, I love it. No notes.

The crackle pattern will be screen printed on top of that.

Update Two
- mini pin designs.

Due to a large number of failed pledges, I am dropping one of the mini pin designs from the general pool. That's the second dahlia design, the more open faced one. It will be in the add-on store as a late stretch goal (it will unlock as an add-on only pin if enough people buy one). We lost nearly 20% of our total to failed pledges this time, which is double the usual amount; so I hope you'll forgive me for this.

The rest though are all done, here we are;

Sweet Pea no. 1 and no. 2. The manufacturer didn't have colour shift (boo T_T) so we're doing a UV print fade effects, please bear that in mind (I know its not everyone's favourite, but I think it looks fab!).

Venus fly trap and poppy. No special effects, they come as they are :).

'Pom pom' Dahlia in pink and red. No special effects, the gradient is just different sections of colour.

Update Three
- Final Foxglove colouration

I promised one more and here it is, my best approximation of dalmation peach.

Update Four - Add - on only pins.

There are going to be a few colourways in the add-on stage that are post campaign stretch goals. One is the second dahlia mini pin, and the others will be a few different colourways for various flowers. There's also a surprise or two in there...

Surveys will go out as soon as the last two pin designs are ready, which is hopefully in a few days.

Finally the grey mouse, purple/orange iris design is currently being reworked per the manufacturer's request, so expect to see that altered soon. It was meant to have a pearl fade effect but I'm not sure we can manage it within specs and a reasonable budget, but hopefully that'll have a preview before survey time too.

Alright! Keep a look out, the last two designs should be out soon and then the surveys will go out :).

☆ What Happens Next? ☆

Well, first of all a massive thank you for everyone who backed the campaign. It really means a lot to me that we got so much support.

Next step is... Well, a bit of waiting around. Work is continuing behind the scenes for the final pin designs. Once those are finished, they surveys will go out. Hopefully within the next two weeks or so, maybe a little longer. It would really help me out if you could fill it out right away - it gives me an idea of how many of each design to order. You'll be able to edit your survey up until cards are charged, which will be shortly before shipping begins - in this case, probably November time.

Some test pins are on order already, including the pink foxglove, the purple harvest mouse, the physalis, the violet carpenter bee, both sizes of cat skull and the stained glass pin, as well as the quicksand pins. Hopefully we'll get some previews soon.

And that's it :). I'll be back once the rest of the designs are ready to go.

☆ Preview ☆ WIPs Dormouse, Orchid Mantis, Flower Minis
9 months ago – Tue, Jun 24, 2025 at 03:14:32 PM

Alright I'm back with the WIP sketches before the campaign comes to an end. This is a very image heavy update, sorry. Scroll down to see the full breakdown of campaign pins.

Starting off with the final branch pin, Dormouse in a Horse-Chestnut tree;

This is the messiest sketch, sorry. Obviously a few places still need work, especially the eyes and what not. The fainter leaves at the back will be the solid metal. Dormice are a pale orangey tan brown; plus the pale green for the chestnut shells, deep brown for the chestnuts and several shades of green for the leaves. The mini pin will be based on that little cluster of chestnuts there.

Here's a clearer view without the background leaves;

The rest I did a quick 'first pass' of messy linework. There will still be adjustments but mostly what's left is filling all the gaps, connecting the corners, rounding out the edge shapes.

Orchid Mantis and Begonia Flower. The mantis should be pale pinks and greens with a hint of offwhite; the flower should be pale yellows and off white. Subject to change. This is the last 2.5in full size pin for this campaign.

After that we have a collection of flower mini pins. I just did all my favourite flowers. These will all be 1.75" inches, and how many colourways we get will depend on how high we fund/what the manufacturer quotes me (although at least one of each!).

Sweet Peas. Both 'the sun is too sunny and therefore everything is chaos' and 'I'm perfect but only while you look at me for this exact two minutes' versions. Both will feature fade effects; I'm still debating with the manufacturer precisely which ones (pearl no swirl, screen print etc). I'm also enquiring about colour shift for these because I think it would look amazing. So, colours undecided, but expect pinks, purples, and near blues.

Venus Fly Trap. Okay its not technically a flower but it IS awesome. Undergoing a bit of a redesign RE the spikes but I'm confident it will be something approaching this design. Colours are greens/reds (pictured).

Poppy. I'll be removing the stem since I realised I don't like it. Colour will be traditional poppy red.

Dahlias. I just love dahlias. They come in all colours so I'm not for sure decided, likely a purple and also a deep deep red. Perhaps a more peachy pink. Perhaps something more unusual. There are so many cool kinds. I'll also be taking the stem off that design too.

And that's all of them. Keep going for the full campaign line up!

So, this is all of the full size/2.5in designs bar one foxglove colourway;

And here's all of the 1.5in to 1.75in mini pins bar one (horse-chestnut);

All of our campaign freebies;

Creator Backers - Returning Backer

Early Bird - Pin Quest (back three or more Pin Quest Campaigns)

And finally, the add-on only pins. The bees will be listed at the survey stage, and you'll be able to pick your seasonal variant for the shaker pin then too. (This is for if you want extra bees).

I went ahead with four seasonal variants because I have zero self control. Each will have different quicksand fillings - petals for spring, butterflies for summer, red maple leaves for autumn and clear blue holo leaves for winter. Plus glitter.

I hope that makes everything less confusing. I will try to get things finished asap :).

☆ Preview ☆ Foxglove and Bee
9 months ago – Mon, Jun 23, 2025 at 12:17:28 PM

Coming into the last three days!

I'm sorry its not the last branch design. There are definitely some things that won't be finished to preview until the campaign is over.

But I do have this;

These are 2.5" and they took way longer than I anticipated. We will have one more colourway that's a little more muted, but I haven't decided 100% what to go for yet. Feel free to throw in your suggestions.

Foxgloves are notorious for a bunch of reasons, not least because they're very toxic. My favourite story though is one from a kids book I got on holiday in the Scottish highlands - that foxes wear the flowers on their paws like slippers to make their paw steps silent. Its a book about how foxes got their long muzzles from sneaking into cow sheds to steal milk, its wild.

Someone asked about bees and I realised I hadn't talked about it yet - the free-bees will be for sale in the add-on store at the survey stage. They'll be available individually for £7 each, along with the rainbow creator bee.

This is the anodized (rainbow metal) version of the blue banded bee that was free for our creator backers. So you'll be able to buy as many bees as you like :).

I put the order in for a test batch of some of the first designs a couple of days ago, including the early bird free-bee and the quicksand pin. Part of that was testing a few things for Halloween, including getting this guy;

at 2.5". So the cat skull will be in both the mini pin and the full size pin pools for this campaign. I put the exact same order sheet in twice, we're just testing side by side what changes between the two sizes.

We should have one more update on the last day, hopefully with a few more designs for you :). The final branch design is left, as well as the begonia/orchid mantis. I also have a handful of more simple mini pin designs. If I don't get them finished, maybe I'll just do a big update of the sketches.

Stay tuned ~
